SHAUNA BURNS RELEASES DESERT TUNE

Shauna Burns developed her delicate vocals and striking piano while growing up in Miami, Florida. Shauna derived inspiration from her mother's love for the piano. Shauna’s songwriting skills prospered and when she went off to college, her music found fans that were enthusiastic and appreciative of the artistry they heard. Every Thought was the Shauna Burns debut release in 2006. The recording received rave reviews followed by successful sales.  Her 2007 follow-up EP release entitled Desert Tune is an engaging five song EP that captures the spirit and warmth of Shauna’s hypnotic vocals and temperate piano playing. The tracks are clever while playful, in accord with her nature of being personal and captivating. Shauna and her piano are once again joined by co-producer and drummer James Clark, Ryan Tilby on guitar and bass with Steve Lemmon on guitar. Shauna spent some time residing in the desert before recording the EP and the listener benefits from that journey while listening to the music.

Shauna explains her songwriting philosophy as, "It can start with just a feeling, that seed in your stomach that grows until you cannot ignore it anymore. I feel the need to cultivate and nurture these seeds because seeds can grow into big ideas if we take care. It makes me question: What's next for all of us in this world? What is the universe trying to tell us? I’m listening." Finding inspiration in the world around her is what Shauna Burns is all about and it is no wonder her songs have such feeling and depth. Visit the Shauna Burns website for updates, sound samples, pictures and more. to view what this world can

Jazz Vocalist Marilyn Scott Releases New Single, The Wilderness, For
Environmental Awareness

Los Angeles, CA--November 27, 2006--Marilyn Scott wants to make a difference in the world we live in. The jazz vocalist has moving and inspirational music to offer and an important message is inside her compositions. Her new release Innocent of Nothing is a testament to her commitment to developing outstanding music that everyone will enjoy and along the way, the hope is that her messages will get through on her latest single "The Wilderness."

"Music has a way of touching people's lives and "The Wilderness", is a voice for so many.  May we grow as much as we cut down, may we clean as much as we pollute, and save the little that is left for the many who have never been to the wilderness." Marilyn speaks like a true poet and an individual that has experienced being one with nature and surrounding beauty. With that said, it is easy to see how that her principals in writing and personal beliefs comes flowing through in her music. Her style is lucid and articulate. Marilyn delivers her songs with a combination of singing and spoken word, which makes for a very distinctive and innovative kind of jazz.  "Marilyn is one of those artists who's comfortable singing in many diverse formats, " says George Duke, the Innocent of Nothing producer and long-time Marilyn collaborator, "She constantly looks for ways to challenge and better herself as a singer and writer, and I find working with her a continuously evolving process of creativity."

There is no magic formula working here, Marilyn Scott's approach is simple and straightforward with a goal of reaching her audience in a way that many other artists cannot. We live in a complex world populated by social issues, war, political scandals, and people in Washington that have been sitting on their hands for decades ignoring the inevitable demise of the planet's habitats and overall health. If more artists like Marilyn Scott started sending a message through the ultimate communicator, music, then perhaps the awareness level would rise exponentially and something would finally happen to make a change for the better. We all can follow her lead, make a stand, and do something about our issues around the environment. The answers lie within the music, just listen.

KELLYLEE EVANS OPENS AT MONTREAL JAZZFEST

Kellylee Evans is a unique voice in the urban-jazz world, and many of today’s top musicians have taken notice.  With a smooth style that slides through jazz, soul, R & B, blues and world music rhythms, Kellylee’s calming sound speaks volumes; Rich, soothing, robust and energizing, this eclectic artist ignites inspiration; and her new CD Fight or Flight? may indeed be one of the most anticipated independent releases of its kind this year.  From the sultry "What About Me?" to the bluesy "I Don't Think I Want To Know", to the reggae-flavored "Let's Call A Truce Tonight" and sexy poetical Spanish vibe of "Rapunzel", the album is an eclectic and focused effort, held together by Kellylee's rich, expressive, effortless vocal range.

"I started getting into jazz before Diana Krall started getting big. Her success really floored me," Kellylee says. "Growing up, I wanted to be a pop star, but when I started liking jazz so much, I realized I wasn't going to be pop star famous, but then Diana's success really got exciting."  At the time, Evans was mainly interpreting classic standards while peppering her concerts with off beat interpretations of pop hits, like Bjork's "Come to Me".

Kellylee was born in Toronto, where she had her first solo in kindergarten and was reportedly heard "vocalizing" in church at three months old. Throughout the years, she performed at various talent shows and was a member of the Toronto Mendelssohn Youth Choir, all the while juggling her school work and five jobs. "I was a gifted child who had ulcers from the age of 15," she says with a laugh.

With the help of Lonnie Plaxico, Kellylee went to New York for a whirlwind two-day recording session at a Manhattan studio. Helping out on the album was keyboardist/pianist George Colligan (Cassandra Wilson, Ravi Coltrane), guitarist Marvin Sewell (Cassandra Wilson, George Benson, David Sanborn), drummer Steve Hass (Art Garfunkel, Billy Joel, The Manhattan Transfer), and percussionist Kahlil Kwame Bell (Erykah Badu, Roberta Flack). Trumpet player Alexander Norris and accordionist Rachelle Garniez lent their talents to a track apiece.  She says the recording was very "in the moment" and resulted in 11 of her original compositions and as a bonus, an alternate recording of "What About Me?"

In 2004, Kellylee was awarded second place in the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocals Competition, held at The Kennedy Center in Washington.  The judges – Quincy Jones, Al Jarreau, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kurt Elling, Jimmy Scott and Flora Purim chose Kellylee out of a pool of over 160 gifted vocalists from around the world. Since 2005, Kellylee has been a regular contributor to CBC Radio, a fixture on Rogers TV, and showcased on Toronto’s City TV.  She was recently seen on an episode of the new sitcom "Getting Along Famously," sharing the screen with entertainer Wayne Brady of Whose Line Is It Anyway & The Wayne Brady Show.

ASIA RETURNS WITH 2006 U.S. REUNION TOUR
Geoff Downes, Steve Howe, Carl Palmer, and John Wetton, the four original members of ASIA, are currently thrilling US audiences with a reunion tour that has packed venues from coast to coast and gathered rave reviews from fans and critics, alike. Performing material from the band’s first two albums and rock classics made famous from the member’s other bands (Yes, Emerson, Lake, & Palmer, King Crimson, and The Buggles). ASIA has quickly become one of the hottest tickets of the summer season.  “Our initial optimism was more than rewarded by the enthusiasm of our fans,” says, John Wetton. Adds Geoff Downes: “It’s great finally to give something musically back to those Asia fans who have remained with us patiently all these years. Many of them never were able to see the band on the original tours we did.”  The group kicked off its first tour in 23 years with a sold out show at The Water Street Music Hall in Rochester, NY on August 29th, and has continued on its 19 city tour playing to thousands of delighted fans. Some high points have included a two day run at New York City’s prestigious Nokia Theater on September 8th and 9th, and headlining the annual Oyster Festival in Norwalk, CT to an enthusiastic crowd of over 6,000. Sold out concerts in Philadelphia, Chicago, and Milwaukee followed, and the band departed for the West Coast on September 18th to conclude its tour with shows in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Palm Desert.  The two hour show features all of original Asia’s biggest hits (“Heat Of The Moment,” “Only Time Will Tell,” “Sole Survivor,” “Wildest Dreams,” “Here Comes The Feeling,”), as well as two unplugged songs from its second album (“Don’t Cry” and ”The Smile Has Left Your Eyes,”). Songs such as Yes’ “Roundabout”, ELP’s “Fanfare For The Common Man”, The Buggles “Video Killed The Radio Star”, and King Crimson’s “Court of The Crimson King” also help make Asia’s live performance an unforgettable experience.  “The response to this tour shows how much our music still means to these fans,” says drummer Carl Palmer. “We look forward to more tours in the future and the opportunity to reach out to as many fans as possible.”

The Killers new album Sam's Town drops in less than a month, October 3rd. Featuring the hit single When We Were Young, this looks to be more great retro-pop with the slick and unique stylings that made Hot Fuss such an enjoyable album.

Tool has filled out their 2006 tour schedule in support of their new album 10,000 Days but unfortunately nothing anywhere near Nashville as of yet. Chicago or D.C. is about as close as they get but something tells me they will make a southern swing of the U.S. in 2007. Anybody out there been to one of their shows this year or from previous tours?

If you’ve ever lingered at one of those smokey little jazz clubs until somewhere between last call and closing, you may have heard it. The spontaneous eruptions and unbridled experiments that push jazz musicians off the charts and into their own instincts. To orchestrate such an atmosphere in the controlled setting of a studio is a rare event.  When The Prodigal Sons jumped into take one of their debut album, Stranger Things Have Happened, now available on iTunes, even the man who engineered their collaboration across two continents found himself sitting at the console in complete wonder (and it takes a lot to impress producer Harvey Jay Goldberg, whose previous credits include The Rolling Stones, Peter Frampton, and Bruce Springsteen).

With Nigel Hitchcock showcasing the free fall solos that have made him the saxophonist of choice for everyone from James Brown to Pink Floyd; keyboardist and hit songwriter Greg Kane, from Britain’s Platinum-selling duo Hue and Cry, unlocking the borders of pop, jazz, and R&B with all 88 keys; percussionist Danny Gottlieb, flown in from New York to anchor these sessions, playing with the authority of his Grammy-winning work with Pat Metheny; and the double-edged intensity of the Cottle brothers, Richard and Laurence, whose keyboard and bass have rocked both studio and stage for Sting, Seal, and Eric Clapton -- it’s the kind of experience that every musician (and serious listener) dreams about, an experiment in chemistry but without the formula. Check out the exceptionally melodic "Just Say You Love Me" or the tranquil "Peaceful Face" when you're feeling romantic, or the sure-footed "Beautiful Face," "3 Foot Blast," and "Little Miss Grace" when the mood calls for uptempo.

Familial harmonies and infectious melodies are plentiful on the recently remastered and re-released debut album by the Guthrie Brothers, entitled The Guthrie Brothers, now available at iTunes.  With songs and arrangements reminiscent of the Eagles, Poco, Dan Fogelberg and other '70s pop luminaries with a recurring country influence, Wisconsin brothers Jeb and Jock Guthrie have crafted an impressive first release on the independent Next Horizon imprint.  From the anthemic "Flesh and Blood," to the sweet homage to their doctor father, "In The Eyes of My Dad," to the pulsing strength of "My Last Mistake" and the haunting beauty of "Rise Again," this collection stays with you.

If you like jazz, be sure to check out the latest collection from Contempo Trio, Secret of Life, now available at iTunes and Amazon.com.  Veterans Danny Gottlieb, Mark Soskin and Chip Jackson are at their best on these tracks, as is guest vocalist Carolyn Leonhart, who lends her silky smooth sound to two excellent tracks, including the sultry and sensual "All Night Long" and the amiable James Taylor cover of "Secret of Life."
